Professor of Finance
Professor Sarath Bandula Delpachitra is a globally recognized scholar and expert in finance, with a distinguished career spanning academia, research, and international consultancy. He holds a Master of Commerce in Economics from Lincoln University, New Zealand (1991), and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Southern Queensland, Australia (1999).
With over 24 years of teaching experience, Prof. Delpachitra has held prestigious positions, including Professor of Finance at Hainan Tropical Ocean University (China), Director of the University of Technology Sydney’s Shanghai Campus, and Deputy Dean of Flinders Business School (Australia). His expertise covers banking, rural finance, energy economics, and international financial markets, with a strong focus on Asia-Pacific economies.
A prolific researcher, Prof. Delpachitra has published extensively in top-tier journals (ABDC A*/A-ranked), such as Energy Economics, Journal of Banking and Finance, and Emerging Markets Review. His work on oil price shocks, liquidity regulation, and financial integration has garnered international acclaim. He has also led high-impact projects for the Asian Development Bank, World Bank, and governments in Sri Lanka, Timor-Leste, and China, focusing on institutional capacity building and rural finance development.
Honored with awards like the Australian Alumni Excellence Award (2013) and the IAEE Outstanding Contribution to Energy Economics (2000), Prof. Delpachitra is a Fellow of CPA Australia and FINSIA. Fluent in English and proficient in Chinese, he continues to shape global finance education and policy through his advisory roles, editorial board memberships, and supervision of 24 Ph.D. candidates.
